BOL Plat Week 3 of Cheong Chiming In

TPO Reformed vs Maelstrom Platinum - I think this matchup is slightly one sided but all things considered Maelstrom should win this series. I do think that Maelstrom would be a significantly weaker team if they did not have Forty in the mid lane, who has been unbelievable so far this season. TPO looked better last week picking up a win, with Ziggie having a great carry performance. I think the gap in mid lane will be too large for Reformed to deal with, so Forty will be the centerfold again for Maelstrom’s gameplay.

SG Proton vs Conduit Crashout - Both teams are coming off of rough loses last week, but both teams will need to bounce back to realign their season. Hedge had a really rough week in particular compared to how he looked in week 1. All of Proton was looking at a bit rough time last week, but I think they will be able to right their ship. I will be looking at Hedge vs Draconical as Hedge has to go against another top tier support in plat, so he will have to show that he can compete with the big dogs. Draconical needs to show that he is a cut above the lower half support and have another week that he had to week 1.

The High Council vs Monkeys Construction - This will be an interesting match up as Monkeys just had a solid victory which The High Council lost in a match up I thought they were favored in. Monkeys played with a jungle/support sub game 1 and they still looked very dominant. I have been back and forth on both of these teams with how strong they are, or if they are just flashes in the ban. I think this matchup will be impactful for how these teams can look for the rest of the season as believe it or not we are almost at the halfway point. I will be watching mid lane of Zlemarc vs Nightmare as both had back and forth performances last week so they will both be looking to be more consistent to help raise their team to the next level.

Imperial Gaming vs Monkeys Knights - Imperial was able to pick up their first series win last week, while the Knights looked as dominant as ever in their win last week. This should be an easy win tonight for Knights, and if they aren’t first to finish their series tonight they need to re-evaluate their gameplay. IG has been a shaky team to start the season but with going up against the best team in BOL currently I do not think they are going to be coming out on top. There is always a world where they can shock us, and that is what they will have to do tonight, but my eggs will be in the Knights basket for this series.

Eclipse Valkyries - Dorado Lambda - Dorado has made roster changes to try and save their season from the 0-2 start that I did not expect them to have. I think these changes make Dorado a stronger team, but we will have to see how much it helps them with gameplay on the rift. Valkyries did end up falling short last week despite Solram having a solid series. I think with the changes this series will be close but I will be watching the mid lane matchup, as Gabe Leo will be taking to the plat rift for the first time this season after performing well in Emerald leagues this year. Solram will have a tough time playing into Gabe, so I am curious to see what Valk’s do to mitigate Gabe’s power.

Conduit Flux vs Monkeys Sharks - The red hot Sharks vs the resurging Flux will be my matchup of the week. I think these teams are in the top half of teams we have here in Plat and Flux will need to have a solid game plan on how to handle the Sharks tonight. The Sharks have looked great over the last 2 weeks and I did not give them enough credit coming into the season. Yukino has looked amazing in the mid lane and the rest of the team backs him up week in and week out. Flux had an easier match up last week and bounced back in a strong way, making the series not look close. They will need to show that again this week vs a team slotted in the first seed currently, so they have their work cut out for them. I will be watching the mid matchup between Socks To Thighs and Yukino as they are both big carry factors for their teams. I expect these two to create a lot of action on the rift, so it should be a great series tonight.

Conduit Kraken vs TPO Redacted - Kraken has been looking scary so far this season, and will look to continue their winning ways going up against TPO this week. TPO just had a rough week vs Krakens sister team in Flux, so they will try to bounce back and upset Kraken but I do not see that happening. Kraken may not have gotten a clean series victory yet this season, but they have looked great in their wins so far. THey haven’t diverged far from the champs they haven’t played in the first 2 weeks, so maybe if teams start to focus on 1 player in draft Kraken could run into a problem. TPO was a team that came into the season with a lot of ego claiming, “I didn’t know ball”, but they have been quite after their loss last week. Their draft make me feel sick, when I see them come across my screen and if they don’t figure out what they are doing in draft they will continue to lose against our top half teams and beat on the lower half teams. Tonight's match is the former so they will need to draft a cohesive draft and style to upset Kraken.

Contingent Purple vs Monkeys Inc. - Monkeys are the favorite going into tonight's match versus Purple and will look to add another win to their season score. Monkeys made their style work last week and to continue to be a successful team they will need to keep winning with the style of league they like to play. Contingent is a team that has shown good moments and weaker ones so far this season, but they have a chance here to turn their season around. I think that these two teams are closer in power then we would expect but I think that Contingent needs to keep a cool head and have a solid draft plan to be able to beat Monkeys tonight. This will be an interesting series and I can see either team coming out on top in this series.
