Rules

1.     Eligibility

1.1.     Gold League

1.1.1.     Players must be Gold 1 99 lp or below, season 9 and season 10 in Solo Queue. Players must have finished Plat 4 or below in Flex 5s during season 9, and Gold 1 99 lp or below in season 10 to join a team in the league.

      1.1.1.1    We are allowing players who were p4 (for gold) in season 9 and d4 (for platinum) in season 9 that have over 350 games this season to play in their respective leagues this season. To ensure competitive integrity final judgment on p4 and d4 players will be at the discretion of the admins. We will be monitoring players who ended these ranks and will only allow 2 per team. (Added 7/30/2020)

1.1.2.     A player may conditionally climb to Platinum 3 while on a team. However, once they hit Platinum 4 they are ineligible to switch teams. If they wish to switch teams they have to play up in the Platinum League.

1.1.2.1.     Any player that reaches platinum 3 with less than 150 games or has an alarming win rate will be put under review.  These players may be asked to play a minimum amount of ranked games per week until we state otherwise.

1.1.2.1.1.     Failure to play or intentionally throwing these games could cause said player to become ineligible.

1.1.3.     Teams are required to research their players, admins are not responsible if a player is found out to be ineligible later in the season. 

1.1.4.     All players must play 130 Solo/Duo Queue ranked games on their main account in order to be Eligible to play in Blue Otter League.  This includes starters, subs, AND e-subs.

1.1.4.1.     Players must have 180 ranked solo/duo games to be eligible for playoffs this season.

1.1.5.     Previously banned accounts do not count towards the minimum game requirement.

1.1.6.     Before players are eligible to play on a roster they must be cleared by an admin.

1.1.7.     Players are not eligible unless they were ranked in the previous season and are currently ranked. Players who have played over 180 games this season are eligible to play if they were not ranked last season.

1.1.8.     If your main account is permabanned during any BOL league season, you will be considered ineligible to participate in Blue Otter League for the remainder of that season.

1.1.9.     Other League ranks count towards eligibility. (LAN, EUW, etc)

1.1.10.     All alternate accounts level 30+ must be disclosed.  Failure to disclose an account will result in a suspension.

1.1.11.     Ultimately all eligibility comes down to admin discretion, the admins can collectively agree to remove or allow any player that we believe is above or below the skill thresholds.

1.1.12.     Players that have previously achieved Platinum prior to season 9 will be under review and the admin team will determine if they are able to play.

1.1.13.     Player eligibility cannot be bypassed by an agreement with another team. (Game requirements)

1.2.     Platinum League

1.2.1.     Players must be Platinum 1 99 LP or below, season 9 and season 10 in Solo Queue. Players must have finished Diamond 4 in season 9 or below in Flex 5s to join a team in the league.

1.     Rosters

2.1.     League Rosters

2.1.1.     All BOL rosters are all limited to a ten man roster & a coach.

2.1.2.     Players must be eligible to play in the league to be on a roster. Teams are responsible for vetting their own players. If a team is found to be consistently attempting to add ineligible players due to not vetting them they will lose their league deposit. 

2.1.3.     Teams are only allowed 5 players in their voice communications while in game.

2.1.4.     Players must register individually to be eligible for the league.

2.1.5.     Rosters lock Monday 11:59 pm EST (Gold League)

2.1.6.     Rosters lock Sunday 11:59 pm EST (Platinum League)

2.1.7.     Any player added after roster lock is considered an e-sub. Additionally any players that have not filled out their player application form prior to roster lock will also be considered e-subs. 

2.1.8.     Players must submit player name changes in the name change channel prior to roster lock in any given week.  Failure to do so will result in 1 ban loss per player.

2.1.8.1.     As a captain, it is your responsibility to make sure your team is ready for the week.

2.1.8.2.     As a last resort, a player may contact an Admin or Head Mod about their name change.

2.1.9.     Playoff rosters will be locked going into week seven (for gold) and week eight (for plat).

2.1.10.     Players who play in an official BOL game with one team will have a one week lock out period before they are eligible to play on another team.

2.1.11.     Starters/subs may not e-sub for other rosters unless a starter/sub is on a Gold roster and wants to play on a Plat roster or vice-versa.

2.1.12.     (Added 9/2/20) Previously a player that did not play could change rosters back and forth and it was only a player that had played in a previous week that had a 1 week cooldown.

  • There will be a 1 week cooldown for any player that is rostered subs and starters alike.

  • Players may drop themselves from a roster at any point in #help-desk.  All drop requests will be taken seriously and will be effective immediately putting you on your one week cooldown. Players  must indicate they intend to be picked up by a team by reacting to the roster change with a thumbs up.

  • Players on cooldown will not be eligible to be added to a roster until their cooldown is over. Cooldowns are for platinum and gold leagues separately.

2.2.     Coaches

2.2.1.     Each team is allowed one coach on their roster at a time and must be verified by the team captain before a role is assigned.

2.2.2.     Coaches may be in team communication for pick / ban phase but must leave after.

2.2.3.     Coaches can rejoin comms in between games but must leave when the game starts.

2.2.4.     If a coach has gone AFK in team communications, contact an admin / mod so that they can move them to AFK channel.

2.2.4.1.     If a team fails to remove their coach in any circumstance, the captain will receive a one game suspension.

2.2.4.2.     Second Offense will result in a forfeit and a three game suspension for the captain.  

2.3.     E-subs

2.3.1.     Each team is allowed a maximum of two e-subs per game. After that their team will forfeit their games.

2.3.2.     1 e-sub used will be a ban loss in the first ban rotation. 2 e-subs used will be 3 ban losses in the first ban rotation. 3+ e-subs is considered a forfeit.

2.3.3.     Teams must clear their e-subs through the e-sub clearance channel in discord for a player to be eligible to e-sub for a team. Players must ping admins for approval.

2.3.4.     If your team is using an e-sub, let the opposing team know as soon as you can.

2.3.5.     Players may only e-sub for one team per week. Failure to follow this will result in a forfeit. Multiple offenses will result in a 3 week suspension for the e-sub and the team captain.

2.3.6.     E-subs are subject to all BOL player eligibility rules and regulations.

2.3.7     E-subs will be heavily scrutinized to ensure competitive integrity. There will be no leniency towards teams who have waited until last second to submit an e-sub. The better the earlier for subs. 

3.     Lobby & In Game

3.1.     Lobby

3.1.1.     Games are played on Summoner’s Rift 5v5 Tournament Draft

3.1.2.     Any and all banter should be only typed in the BOL #trash-talk channel.

3.1.3.     Follow Discord Rules

3.1.4.     Either team may create the lobby and invite the opposing team. Both teams should make an effort to communicate with opposing captains to set up the game. If a team is unreachable contact admins or mods in the discord.

3.1.5.     Lobbies will not be admin / mod checked.

3.1.5.1.     If a team has a problem with a lobby, they may contact a mod or admin to resolve an issue.

3.1.6.    Any form of ban losses will occur in the first round of the ban phase.

3.1.7.     Games will start on the hour. Bans will occur 5 minutes after the game should start and in increments of 5 up until 3 bans are lost where a team will FF after that.

3.1.7.1.     Meaning that a team will start to lose bans at 8:05 and FF their games at 8:20.

3.1.7.2.     Game two will be more lenient depending on when both teams finish their first game.

3.1.8.     There are no excuses for running late. Patch ahead of time or get a sub to take your spot.

3.1.9.     Client bugs, or mispicks will result in a remake of the draft, but with the same picks.

3.1.9.1.     This must be done before the game is loaded in

3.1.9.2.     We are not responsible for any misclicked summoner spells or masteries. 

3.1.10.    If the league denies a champion and a team plays it. It is an automatic forfeit.

3.1.11.    Prodraft is required but both teams can agree to not use it. You are required to link the other team a copy of the spectator link when using prodraft.

3.1.12.     Teams must line up in LCS order. The only allowed role swaps that are allowed after lining up in LCS order is top and mid for a favorable matchup.

3.1.13.     Bot lanes that are currently allowed in BOL.  As this season progresses, this rule will be amended to reflect current meta strategies.

3.1.13.1.     Current strategies: Sona Taric, Fasting Senna (full or 1/3rd)

3.1.13.1.1.     Either Bot laner may play either of these champions

3.1.13.2.     AP Carry (lined up in the ADC spot) and Support

3.1.13.3.     Kill lanes are allowed.  However, if we see a team abusing this rule by creating loopholes, they will be punished.

3.1.14     Teams are required to make their final champion changes before the timer countdown hits 30 seconds heading into the loading screen. 

3.1.15.     Players are required to play on their main account listed with Blue Otter League via the Player Registration form. 

3.2.     In Game

3.2.1.     No excessive BMing

3.2.2.     We highly advise that you avoid any form of communication other than GG or explaining a pause while in game.

3.2.3.     Follow Discord rules

3.2.4.     The use of emotes / masteries is allowed. 

3.3.     Pauses

3.3.1.     Pauses are limited to 10 minutes. After that teams must play out the game regardless of issues.

3.3.1.1.     An opposing team may send a screenshot if this rule has not been followed.

3.3.1.2.     Any excessive use or abuse of the pause rule will be punished via captain suspensions.

3.4.     Remakes

3.4.1.     Remakes are only allowed under severe server / client issues.

3.4.2.     Remakes may only occur if they are done before first blood or first minion dies.

3.4.3.     Teams must seek admin approval for a remake.

4.     League Information

4.1.     Schedule

4.1.1.     The Gold League plays Wednesdays at 8pm EST and 9pm EST.

     4.1.1.1.     There is a $10 entry fee for the BOL Gold League as well as a $10 deposit that teams will receive at the end of the season. The deposit will be returned if teams are not involved in a competitive ruling (e.g. smurfing) and do not forfeit more than one series of games. 

4.1.2.     Platinum League plays Tuesday at 8pm EST and 9pm EST.

     4.1.2.1.     There is a $25 entry free for the BOL Platinum League as well as a  $25 deposit that teams will receive at the end of the season. The deposit will be returned if teams are not involved in a competitive ruling (e.g. smurfing) and do not forfeit more than one series of games.

4.1.3.     Teams are allowed to reschedule a game if it is not streamed and they have admin approval.

4.1.3.1.     Teams have a two week period to complete their rescheduled games or they result in forfeits.

4.2.     Standings

4.2.1.     2-0 Win - 6 points

           2-1 Win - 5 points

           1-2 Loss - 3 points 

           0-2 Loss - 2 points

           Forfeit - 0 points

4.2.2. (For Best of 1s)

           Win - 3 points

           Loss - 1 point

           Forfeit - 0 points

4.3.     Side Selection

4.3.1.     For Bo1s, the team on the left on the schedule will be blue side while the team on the right will be red side.

4.3.2.     For Bo3s, the team on the left will have side selection for game 1 and the team on the right will have side selection for game 2. If the series goes to a game 3, the team with the fastest win in that series will have side selection in the final game.

4.3.3.      For Bo5s (aka playoffs), The higher seed in the matchup will be given side selection for Game 1.  Side selection for Games 2, 3 ,4 and 5 will be given to the team that lost the previous game.  For example, if Team B loses game 1, they get side selection in game 2.  If Team B loses game 2, they will get side selection game 3.  If two teams have the same seed, there will be be a coinflip for game 1 side selection and then will proceed with the above procedure. (TL;DR: Loser gets side selection after game 1)

4.4.     Captain Chat

4.4.1.     Blue Otter League has implemented a Captain Chat. This is to help better reach our players and get feedback from them about rulings / rules and overall help to improve the player experience in the league.

4.4.1.1.     Any conversations about rescheduling need to be posted in the captain chat so admins can oversee it.

4.5.     Deposits

4.5.1.     Currently, we are accepting deposits for the Platinum League ($25) and Gold League ($10).  These deposits are “in good faith” and will be returned as long as each team completes these 3 requirements:

4.5.1.1.     Finish out the season. If you're looking to forfeit in the last week of the season you must seek admin permission. If not you may be subject to losing your deposit. 

4.5.1.2.     Only forfeit a max of 2 games.

4.5.1.3.     Did not get punished for smurfing or any other major rule violations

4.6     Buy ins

4.6.1.     There is a $10 buy in fee for the Gold League that can be accepted via Cash App or Paypal. This goes to the BOL prize pool. 

4.6.2. There is a $25 buy in fee for the Platinum league that can be accepted via Cash app or Paypal. This goes to the BOL prize pool. 

4.7.     Team Branding

4.7.1. Team names and player names must be within twitch TOS.

4.7.2. Teams are limited to one Name/Brand/Logo change per season due to the amount of resources that it takes to edit. 

5.     Discord Etiquette

5.1.     In discord there is no tolerance for racism, hate speech or NSFW content.

5.2.     Going forward, any death threats or telling someone “Kill yourself”, “kys”, or any variation will result in a suspension/mute depending on the severity.

5.3.     Trash talk is an opt-in channel for those wishing to participate in the shenanigans.

5.3.1.     Even though trash talk is an opt-in channel there are boundaries. Rule 6.1 and 6.2 still stands in the trash talk channel.

5.4.     In extreme cases of harassment / extreme toxicity outside of the Blue Otter League Discord. Admins may remove you from the League.

5.5.     Failure to follow the discord rules will result in mutes, suspensions or bans.

5.6.     (Added 9/19/20) Do not bring up political views into any discussion. This is a place to play league of legends and not a political debate. We understand that some of you have a very solid understanding of politics and can debate without getting personal but every debate would get out of hand. Punishment:
1st offense - Muted for 1 week
2nd offense - Muted for 2 weeks and lose access to trash talk for the rest of the season
3rd offense - Muted indefinitely 

5.7.     (Added 9/19/20) Do not post screenshots of players saying racist, sexist, or any other statements that would be against BOL discord etiquette in any channel.

6.     Disciplinary Actions

6.1.     Account Sharing - Banned from the league until we're able to clearly know that the individual is no longer account sharing. Second offense is a permanent ban from the league. 

6.2.     Hate Speech - First offense is a mute. Second offense is a ban.

6.3.     NSFW Content - Discord ban, can appeal

6.4.     Racism - First offense is a ban.

6.5.     Ringing - First offense is a ban from the league until we're able to clearly know that the individual is no longer account sharing. Second offense is a permanent ban from the league.

6.6.     Smurfing - Banned from the league.

6.7.     Knowledge of Smurfing - First offense is a league ban for the season. Second offense is a permanent ban from the league.

6.8.     Excessive Lobby & In game BM - Depending on the severity of the case. First offense is a game suspension. Second offense is a two game suspension and third offense is a three game suspension.

     6.8.1. Lobby and in game penalties are enforced on the next game / series after a proper investigation can be completed.

6.9.     Ghosting / Stream Sniping - If you are caught ghosting or stream sniping other streamers in BOL Games it will be a FF and you will receive a 3 game suspension.

6.10.     Severe Cases - Admin discretion based on the severity of the case.

6.11.     Pause Abuse - Captain suspension and or ban losses.

6.12.     Elo Sitting - Admin discretion. There will be no remakes or losses.

6.13.     Knowledge of Account Sharing - First offense will result in a league suspension for the season. Second offense will result in a permanent league ban.

6.14    There will be no remakes for teams that are found to have a smurf on them or account sharing. All wins will result as a loss and standings will be adjusted accordingly.
