It has been an interesting first half of the Blue Otter Premier League. Coming into the season, we had some very known organizations that most people thought were going to be top 4 at least by this point. On the flip side, we have orgs that are completely unknown, but have stunned the entire league. The BOL Stonk Market is somewhat correlated to how teams are doing in the league so let's dive into what I would buy, sell, or hold going into week 5. BUY - Omega Gaming
Price - 30 OtterCoins (+2)
This is pretty much a given. For a team that should be undefeated, their price is severely undervalued. Their only two game losses were caused by unfortunate circumstances which forced the team to play 4v5. While they have been mostly solid every week, there have been games that have shown some weakness in their gameplay. Most recently, they had to claw back from a very large gold deficit against the winless Literal Monkeys in game 2. A lot of their struggles can be seen through their average game time of 38:07 which is the 2nd highest in the league. With that game time, it's no wonder this team averages 8.7 towers destroyed each game. Even though they had a few close calls, they were always able to find their way back each game. They will have a tough matchup against Elysium this week and we will see if Omega can keep their win streak going. HOLD - High Alert Price - 24 OtterCoins (-1)
Let's talk about the wonders of whatever the hell High Alert is. Relative to their series record, this team is actually priced at a premium. They even cost more than multiple teams that have a better overall record than them. However, there are a lot of upsides with this team. In every match, they have been extremely competitive. They were able to take a game off of Team Solo Invade and probably should've won the series. Additionally, they gave Omega Gaming a run for their money in their series. The players on their roster are well known commodities that can be parts of a championship winning team. They have a lot of work to do to get back into a playoff spot with only 3 weeks left. On the bright side, they have already played the two strongest teams in the league and the only matches they have left are against 2-2 teams. I would be careful when purchasing this stonk. Even though they have a very high upside, the organization is on the cusp of missing the playoffs which will hurt the price.
BUY - The Spire
Price - 20 OtterCoins (-2)
As the defending champions of the Blue Otter Emerald League, I had high expectations coming into the season. Fortunately for them and the potential shareholders, the stonk market didn't start at the beginning of the season or this team would be down 50%. The team had a pretty average strength of schedule so far and they are currently sitting at 2-2. I fully expected them to win against Dorado Gaming last week, but they ended up losing in a 1-2 fashion. The one game they did win was a FF, so the last couple weeks have not been kind to them. The price of this organization is quite low even though they are in a solid position to make the playoffs. If they can clean up their game play, I can see this organization be a very solid investment going into the future. They have a solid test this week against an interesting Conduit team. A win here will boost their confidence and put them in a prime playoff spot. However, a loss here would put them in a position where a 4 loss season is very likely. I like the risk/return of this team, but I wouldn't go all in.
STRONG BUY - Elysium
Price - 23 OtterCoins (-2)
This team is dirt cheap when looking at this roster. If a team has players like Dilly, GusterPosey, and Aero, you probably think they are contender to win the league. Unfortunately for them, they are sitting in the middle of the standings with a 2-2 record. Let's talk about the fundamentals of this team. First, they have the 2nd most deaths per game in the league and a lot of that is because they have Baus Yee Caw in the top lane. Second, they have used 8 different players in 4 weeks of games. If this team makes playoffs, I think they would be extremely dangerous if they can field a consistent roster week over week. Lastly, this team secures 3.1 dragons per game. I have full confidence that Elysium can be one of the best teams in terms of macro decisions in the league, but I feel like a lot of their win conditions are hindered by the fact that they give away a lot of gold for free. They are still a strong team and every team should treat them as such. If there was an upset of the week contender, this week's match vs Omega Gaming could be it. Even with a loss, the team can still control their fate and make the playoffs.
HOLD - Team Solo Invade
Price - 36 OtterCoins (+4)
There is not much to say about Team Solo Invade. They are just really really good. While their overall team CSing can be seen as average, the individual CSing of their carries are very good. The ADC and MVP contender, Just RJ#ester, has the highest CS/minute in the league at 8.7. At the 15 minute mark, Just RJ averages 126 CS while NBK averages 122. The strong early game CSing gives the team a slight item advantage in early game fights which can dictate the overall game. Additionally, the team drafts and plays to enable their carries to succeed. However, their armor isn't made out of bedrock. They have dropped a couple games over the season and last week, they dropped a game to the 2nd lowest team on the standings. There was a high chance that TSI was going to drop that series altogether, but they were able to bring it back and keep their stonk high. A hold rating here is justified because I want to see clean week from them as they face off against Literal Monkeys.
BUY - Dorado Gaming
Price - 22 OtterCoins (+5)
This team is just the wild west. I'm just going to say it and say they are extremely lucky that they picked up a free series win against Omega in week 1 or they would be in a pretty difficult spot. This team is a complete rollercoaster in terms of what can happen each week. Last week, the team's top laner had a client issue which caused the team to FF game 2. Dorado was able to bounce back with super sub Efron and win the match against The Spire. After the match, Dorado started a GoFundMe to upgrade Troublekilla's chromebook to something that can actually run 3D space pinball. Dorado, to no one's surprise, has the highest average game time in the league at 40:08. If anyone wants extra content, all they have to do is tune into a Dorado match in premier. With all of that being said, the team looks somewhat solid when they are on the same page. The addition of Tortuga a couple weeks ago seemed like a downgrade to wunderworld at first, but Tortuga just synergizes a lot more with the rest of the team. It is a must win match against High Alert this week and a loss here will send the Dorado stonk plummeting.
HOLD - Conduit Esports
Price - 25 OtterCoins (+6)
I have some insider information about this team so I'm going to go ahead and make it public. We have seen a couple iterations of this roster where they either have Genetics or Pineinessapoha as the jungler. Long story short, the team wants to play with Pineinessapoha, but genetics abuses his power and forces the team to play with him sometimes. The last sentence is completely untrue, but Pineinessapoha does have clash-style volleyball tournaments on the weekends where it inhibits them to participate in premier. With Pine, this roster is very solid and they could take games or even the series off of top teams. The rest of the team has been playing well. The bot lane of Glada and Ypsi can hold their own against most of the league. Czi is a rock in the top lane and probably the star of this roster. Even though Derisin is having a rollercoaster of a ride in solo queue, he is able to perform well in premier and puts his team in a good position to win the series. The hold rating is justified because a lot of this team's success revolves around which player is in the jungle. Also, this team went up 6 OtterCoins in a week which is pretty ridiculous.
SELL - Literal Monkeys
Price - 16 OtterCoins (-2)
Literal Monkeys was in a tough spot at the beginning of the season. They lost their bot lane a couple weeks before the season was supposed to start. They had some shining moments throughout the season and have been getting progressively better as a team. Last week, they gave Omega Gaming a run for their money in game 2, but ended up throwing the game. I think this team can develop into a solid playoff contender with some more coaching. However, with a record of 0-4, they have a high chance at missing playoffs this season. To make matters even worse, they have TSI on their week 5 schedule. A loss here would effectively knock them out of playoff contention. If they somehow win, it might be the confidence boost that this team needs to try to finish the season with 3 wins. If you are buying this stonk, it would be for future seasons or if you are making a high risk/reward play this week only.
