How we are doing BOL Plat. Last week felt weird with only two series being played but they were bangers regardless. RIP my goats of AIE, but let's get into this content.
Quarter Finals match Results -
SG Proton 3 - 0 AIE - This streamed match series did not let us down. Despite AIE losing in a clean sweep they still shocked me with how they looked playing up against SG. In game 1 AIE was up about 7k at 26 minutes into the game and looked like they had the game on lock. Kiwislap was a monster on his Camille and looked poised to carry his team to the win, but Vesu and the rest of SG had a different idea. Vesu was able to steal the Baron away and the rest of SG cleaned up the fight, getting an ace and completely swinging the momentum into their favor. SG took another decisive fight in the mid lane and swung the game their way and were able to clean it out without letting Alf die. In game 2 SG had all the momentum and trampled over AIE and it felt like the series was over at that point. Alf and Vesu linked up all game, countering any play AIE tried to make around Devils Cait and got Yomi ahead on his Jinx. Yomi was the hard carry this game thanks to SG feeding him everything. He had 20 kills, a penta and no deaths, any adcs dream. Game 3 sadly was more of the same for AIE. They r5 Galio into Voli was not it and had no impact on the game. Alf busted out his Akali once he saw an immobile mage in Viktor in mid lane and pushed the advantage the way he should have. SG cleaned up their game through the series besides 1 or 2 troll plays but they are in form after getting a clean 3-0 they should have.
MVP of the Series: AlfaiatE Valiant Effort: Kiwislap
Monkey Business 3 - 0 Atomic Desperadoes - Well, I thought this series was going to be competitive but here we are. Even without Batman Monkey puts on the business and shuts down Desperadoes. They mid lane mismatch was apparent this series as Billybadass stood no chance against GiraffeRider, but sadly that wasn’t the only gap on the map. 10x Jungle ran circles around W3BB this series and all the question marks around AD and roster changes proved to be there for a reason. Game 1 Monkey got the gold lead early and never gave it up, being up 9k at 30 minutes and ending the game 4 minutes later with a 15k gold lead. Game 2 was closer to start then snowballed into a smash with 10x and Giraffe running the Ori/Noc combo perfectly and using it to smash team fights and side lanes. Game 3 was the closest of all the games, if we are only looking at the kills. Once again Monkey got the early gold lead and never game it up, using their pick comp to farm up early kills that let them stay ahead of the AD comp. Monkey Business looked better and cleaner then I was expecting, but the end result of them winning is exactly what I did see coming though.
MVP of the Series: GiraffeRider Valiant Effort: Ryoga
Playoff Round 1 Predictions Results -
SG Proton 3 - 2 AIE Anguish
Monkey Business 3 - 1 Atomic Desperadoes
Playoff Round 2 Predictions -
Dorado Rho 3 - 1 SG Proton
MZRY Obsidian Vice 3 - 0 Hydro Great White
Conduit Revelation 3 - 1 Monkey Business
Imperial Gaming 1 - 3 Monkeys Champagne
Dorado Rho vs SG Proton - If I could choose what series to stream and cast this would be one of my two choices. While I do think Dorado is going to get the win in the end I do think this will be a competitive series. My eyes will be on the mid/jungle duo for both teams. Like I said last week Vesu and Alf are what make this Proton team work. They look to link up on the map early with hard push from Alf to make plays on either side lane. Cooper and Booty will have to work together to shut down what has turned SG into the team we thought they were going to be. Yomi and Sloppy both can’t be ignored either since they are both the carries for their team. These teams on paper both match up so well together because of how both of them look to play the game. I am going to favor the experience of the Dorado roster but do not be shocked if SG pulls off the upset.
Lane to watch: Mid/Jungle Duos - Vesu/Alf vs Copper/Booty
MZRY vs Great White - I think this is the most lopsided match up in the playoffs so far. I think we start to see the issues in Great White’s roster two weeks ago where they lost 2-0. A jungle role swapping to mid is going to be hard to deal with the pressure that Wall St puts out. This MZRY roster has been on the rise all season long, and with their strong solo laners they will be able to shut down what Great White wants to do. With this new line up that Great White has I have no idea how they want to play the game or what lane they will put their focus to. If I assumed they will play for Top and Bot and put mid on a supportive or scaling pick. For MZRY they will play their style of getting Jesus a strong hard carry or prio jungle pick and use him to get Narva and Wall St ahead then let Tort and Trux scale up and be late game carries.
Lane to watch: Mid - Wall St vs WURD STEPBRO
Conduit Revelation vs Monkey Business - I believe that Conduit Revelation would 3-0 this series if I didn’t know the players personally. They will find a way to drop this series but they will come out with the win in the end. Pound for pound I think they match up better against their opposition tonight. Revelation will do their normal style of trying to get Manveer into a spot to carry for them like he has all season. Nasian should stick to the AD Bruisers/Ivern that he is known for and can hard carry with. If Monkey wants to pull off the upset they will have to look to shut down Manveer and get their carry Grim into a spot to carry them like he has. But with GiraffeRider growing into his role and putting on his carry pants last week this team now has a second threat. This series has the potential to be spicy but I think Conduit will find a way to stop Business in their tracks.
Lane to watch: ADC - Manveer vs Grim Dafyre
Imperial Gaming vs Monkeys Champagne - What could have been a more exciting series before has sadly become less so. I do not have faith in this IG roster without Azure being in the mid lane. Monkey Champagne might not be the strongest playoff team, but are definitely stronger than the shaky IG roster. I think Nightmare is going to have a field day in mid on his scaling picks vs Noble. I am hoping Steelfan has the chance to pull out his picks and have fun up in the top lane against whoever they put there. I think Monkey has been scaling up into playoffs and will look to use their strong team play to get them the series win. FOr IG they will have to look to play through Chef J who will have to be their hard carry tonight. He has been a top 4 adc all season long and will need to show it again tonight to give IG any hope.
Lane to watch: Mid - Noble/Ziggie (idk who is playing) vs Nightmare
